NBR (Acrylonitrile-Butadiene Rubber) – The Ideal Elastomer Material for Seals
NBR, also known as acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber, is a high-quality elastomer material that is excellent for sealing applications. Especially for O-rings and seals in the automotive industry as well as in mechanical engineering, NBR is the first choice due to its outstanding properties.
This material offers excellent resistance to oils, fats, fuels, and many hydrocarbons, making it particularly suitable for use in oil-containing environments. Additionally, NBR is characterized by high abrasion resistance, tear strength, and temperature resistance ranging from -20 °C to +100 °C, with short-term resistance up to 120 °C. At elevated temperatures, the aging of O-rings is accelerated.
Thanks to these properties, NBR is used in hydraulic and pneumatic systems where reliable seals are required under high-pressure conditions and demanding environments.
