Profile sealing rings according to DIN 3869
Profile sealing rings in accordance with DIN 3869 are seals for static connections. They are primarily used in hydraulic and pneumatic threaded connections, for example between a threaded connection and a housing. They ensure that connections remain reliably sealed – even with a comparatively low tightening torque.
The profiled sealing rings are usually made of elastomers such as NBR (nitrile rubber) or FKM (Viton). NBR is suitable for many standard applications, whilst FKM is primarily used at higher temperatures or with demanding media. They typically have a ring-shaped design with a rectangular cross-section and a profiled sealing edge. This ensures an even seal between the components.
The DIN 3869 standard specifies dimensions and tolerances and ensures that the seals function reliably and are interchangeable. They are frequently used in conjunction with screw connections in accordance with DIN 2353.
