EUDR Explained Simply: Implications for Businesses and Supply Chains—What Companies Need to Know Now

Customer Information on the EU Deforestation Regulation
As of July 2026
Recently, we have been receiving an increasing number of inquiries from our customers regarding the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). With this information, we would like to provide you with factual details on the current status—and at the same time clarify that, for the vast majority of our products and for us as a supplier, there is currently no immediate need for action.
1. What is the EUDR?
Regulation (EU) 2023/1115—known as the EUDR (EU Deforestation Regulation)—aims to keep products linked to deforestation occurring after December 31, 2020, off the EU market. Seven commodities are affected: natural rubber, cattle, cocoa, coffee, oil palm, soy, and timber—as well as certain derived products.
ℹ️ The EUDR applies to both market participants (operators) and traders. However, the most extensive due diligence obligations apply to those companies that first place relevant products on the EU market or import them. Our role within the supply chain is generally much less affected by this.
2. Are our seals even affected?
Based on our current understanding, only seals containing natural rubber are affected. The vast majority of our product range consists of synthetic materials that are not covered by the regulation:
| Material | EUDR-relevant? | Note |
| FKM, FFKM (fluoroelastomers) | ❌ No | Synthetic, not covered |
| NBR, HNBR, SBR | ❌ No | Synthetic, not covered |
| EPDM, CR, silicone |
❌ No | Synthetic, not listed |
| NR – Natural rubber | ⚠️ Case-by-case assessment | Required for products containing natural rubber |
| NR blends (mixtures) | ⚠️ Case-by-case assessment | required depending on the NR content |
3. Current Regulatory Status – No Binding Regulations Yet
The European Commission is continuing to work on supplementary guidelines and legal acts for the practical implementation of the regulation. As a result, individual requirements and interpretations may still change. As of July 2026, the following deadlines apply:
| Company Size | Start Date |
| Large & medium-sized enterprises | December 30, 2026 (Regulation (EU) 2025/2650) |
| Micro & Small Enterprises (SMEs) |
June 30, 2027 |
In addition, on May 4, 2026, the European Commission published a comprehensive revision package containing further simplifications and clarifications—including a delegated act on the exact scope of products that has not yet been finally adopted. The exact requirements have therefore not yet been definitively established.
⚠️ Conclusion: Since the specific implementing provisions have not yet been fully adopted and we operate as a supplier—not as the first entity to place the product on the market—we are not currently issuing blanket EUDR declarations of conformity. Should product-specific evidence be required or become available in the future, we will review it on a case-by-case basis. We are monitoring developments and will respond as soon as specific, binding requirements are available.
4. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
❓ Can you issue us an EUDR Declaration of Conformity?
Not in a general form at this time. Since the implementing regulations are not yet final and we, as a supplier, do not act as the first distributor, a reliable declaration is neither possible nor appropriate at this time. We will inform you as soon as specific requirements are available.
❓ Does my O-ring or gasket contain natural rubber?
Please refer to your product’s material data sheet. The material designation “NR” or “natural rubber” indicates natural rubber. The vast majority of our standard products (FKM, NBR, EPDM, etc.) do not contain natural rubber and are not affected by the EUDR.
❓ What specifically do we, as customers, need to do now?
First, check whether your products contain natural rubber at all. If the product in question does not contain natural rubber, based on our current understanding, there are no additional requirements arising from the EUDR under our supply relationship. If it does—please contact us; we’ll work with you to determine what information we can provide at that time.
